Three Natural Remedies to Prevent Acne Scars

Even when we have manage to say goodbye to acne, long-lasting scars, that are often proportional to the size of the inflammations that have caused them, leave us with bad memories to our skin. However, there are natural healing remedies that can have a real impact in eliminating scars when applied regularly and smoothly. So here are three remedies, from the most common to the most surprising, to get rid of those pesky scars once and for all!

LEMON JUICE

Perhaps as one of the most accessible remedies, lemon juice has two great virtues: first, the natural citric acid is an excellent exfoliant, removing dead and damaged skin. Then of course there is its effectiveness against pigmentation; its application eliminates scars created by redness. Using a cotton wipe, apply the juice of half a lemon over your skin and rinse off after 5 minutes. You can then proceed to rehydrate your skin with an all natural care adapted to oily skin. Be sure to space each application of lemon juice to one or two days.

ALOE VERA & TEA TREE OIL

Although not a miracle cure, the balm of aloe vera and tea tree oil will be good for your skin. In a small bottle, combine equal parts of aloe vera sap or a gel of good quality (just remember the gel must be clear and not green!) and tree tree oil. Aloe vera is known for its anti-inflammatory and regenerative properties, whilst tea tree oil boasts anti-infective benefits. Apply this treatment twice a day on your scars using a cotton wipe before you moisturise!

ROSEHIP OIL CO2 EXTRACT

Perhaps the most surprising ingredient is rosehip oil CO2 extract. Rosehip oil is famous for having the same proportion of omega- 3, an essential fatty acid. However rosehip oil, extracted with CO2 (a natural extraction method suitable for low-yielding plants) contains much higher doses of provitamin A carotenoids and vitamin E, and is thus famed for its effective cell regeneration properties. This oil has a sweet fruity smell and an intense orange colour. Apply the oil every morning and evening onto your scars. As a true anti-ageing agent, rosehip oil CO2 extract also protects the skin against the sun thanks to its many carotenoids!
